main points that I caught:
- Allah give the hijab to honor Muslim women
- so that women are not treated as sexual object
- lower your gaze to sisters who aren't wearing the hijab
- we're living in a society where people are walking around naked, and we're worried about somebody not wearing a scarf on their head
- "I challenge any of of you, just wear a robe and a turban one day out here"
- "go and experience what it's like to be identified as a Muslim"
- Muslim women stereotype from others
- get stares and laughed at
- "we're chasing them out of Islam"
- it's like holding on to the hot fire
- have mercy, defend, PROTECT
- Muslim women have more innocence (even the one not wearing the hijab) and that attracts the wolves
as a Muslim woman (heheh, girl maybe) who is currently living in a western country, surrounded by the western culture, yes, it's hard. i get stares when i pray outside. i get glances when i walk, fully covered on a sunny day. but it's worth the challenge, worth the fight. i love Islam. sometimes, i slipped. but i'll try to hold on the fire.
yes, they recognized the innocence in Muslim women. trust me. whether they let you know or not. not saying to be a snob, dont talk to them at all. but be careful while interacting with the wolves. and that's a reminder to myself as well.
mhm, protect us. please and thank you. and fellow Muslims (males esp) dont be too hard on us, though we know you're right. because we're humans just like you. dont chase us out, as the speaker said.
